Redirect First Time Commentator to Thank You Page

I added the Thank You page recently and results so fare are great. It helped me a lot to reduce the bounce rate of my blog. I think its a must have plugin and you should use it for sure. Below is step by step guide to make a “Thank You page” for your blog and redirecting first time commentator to that page :

1. Make a Page : Its the first thing you have to do. First add a page and make sure to clear the concept. Don’t make it much lengthy. Don’t make your reader to fill silly for his/her visit because of a lot of graphics and article URLs on that page.
For example you can add some subscription links, Affiliate Products and detail of your blog. You can add some great and popular articles too.

2. Instal the Comment Redirect Plugin : First of all Download the Plugin <Here> . Its a simple comment redirection plugin by Joost ( Yes, the same guy who created the popular Yoast’s SEO Plugin ). Once you installed it , Navigate to Plugins>>Comment Redirect . Simply add the URL of the page you created and you have done !

That’s it. To get an idea to create that Page you can have a view on Technoupdates’s ” Thank You Page“. And to test it just give a comment below if you haven’t done it yet. You can also use an fake email id to comment and then you will be automatically redirected to that page.
If you have any problem or have an Idea then please make use of comment form and help us to make the concept more clear. I am eager to hear from you :)

  8. Matt says:

    Any idea how to make the code so it redirects the commenter every time and not just the first time?

  9. Matt says:

    I figured it out.. for anyone wanting the solution:
    Go to the Plugins Editor and find Comment Redirect by Yoast.
    comment out the following lines:
    //$cc = get_comments( array( ‘author_email’ => $comment->comment_author_email, ‘count’ => true ) );
    //if ( 1 == $cc ) {

    And then comment out the closing:

    // }

    This will redirect the user every time regardless of how many times they’ve commented. I figured this is more useful for two reasons:

    1. They may not subscribe.
    2. They may have subscribed, but you can also put other messages or ads on the redirect page and grab them for something else.

    Hope this helps someone.
